Governor Kaine has Vetoed the Money to Demolish the Murphy Hotel
Governor Tim Kaine has vetoed the four million dollars to demolish the historic Murphy Hotel which will keep it on the Richmond skyline until the next session of the General Assembly. The building is not saved, however. The Murphy will remain standing only until the legislators appropriate the money for its replacement. The fate of this Richmond historic landmark is now completely in the hands of the Governor.
A.C.O.R.N. encourages all who care about Richmond’s architectural heritage to contact Governor Kaine and encourage him to keep this Richmond landmark standing. Click here to send an email to the Governor. If citizens remain silent, this will ensure the loss of all of these Richmond Landmarks.
