Donate a property to A.C.O.R.N

Your run down property represents a liability for you. If someone is injured on the property, you could be sued. If you are in violation of the city's building code, you could incur liens. If the property becomes a public nuisance or hazard, you could be ordered to demolish the building at your expense.

In the interest of preserving the historic character of neighborhoods and the architectural integrity of your building, A.C.O.R.N. will help you find an owner committed to renovation. By donating your vacant property to A.C.O.R.N, you can ensure its preservation while ridding yourself of financial and legal headaches -- and receive a tax deduction on top of it!

In 2001, a property owner ordered by the city to demolish a neglected, vacant house on Union Hill chose, instead, to donate it to A.C.O.R.N. Not only did he avoid demolition fees, which would have run upwards of $10,000, he received a tax deduction for the assessed value of the house.

But best of all, a wonderful late 19th century house was saved along with the streetscape of this historic neighborhood, which would have been ruined with the loss of this attached house.

A.C.O.R.N. received the donation of the house and, in turn, gave it to an individual who agreed to renovate it within a reasonable time frame.

A.C.O.R.N. does not buy or sell properties. We make no profit when a property is donated to us, because we deed it over immediately to a ready restorer who agrees in writing to rehab the property up to certain standards within a certain period of time.
