ElderHomes Corporation - 233-2827
- Emergency Moderate and Minor Home Repair: Grants and loans from $100 to $50,000 for home repair, throughout Greater Richmond. Some income restrictions may apply.
- Volunteer Home Repair: Minor home repairs and accessibility improvements to homeowners who have no other alternative.
- Weatherization: Energy assistance home repair grants to very low-income households throughout the City of Richmond and the six surrounding counties (targeted toward reducing utility bills). Limit of $2,200 per household.
Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME, Inc.) - 354-0641
Provides low and no interest-deferred loans for low-income homeowners to address health and safety issues. This program is currently available only in the six NIB areas; however, HOME is in the process of expanding outside the NIB target areas.
Neighborhood Housing Services of Richmond (NHSR) - 329-2500
- Emergency Home Repair Grants: Available in the Barton Heights neighborhood. Grants restricted to persons over age 60.
- Low Payment Home Repair Loan: NHSR offers a very low payment loan ($25 per month) for homeowners who need more substantial repair work than standard grant funding would allow. These loans are generally not to exceed $6,000. Available in Barton Heights.
- Home Improvement Loan: Very low-interest loans to homeowners who have limited means to make repairs to their property. NHSR provides assistance in finding a qualified contractor and provides construction management services. Available in the North Planning District to all homeowners regardless of income, except for census tracts 102 and 104, where it is available only to low/moderate-income homeowners.
Richmond Redevelopment & Housing Authority (RRHA) - 780-4200
- Homeownership Rehabilitation Program: Provides flexible low-interest loans to existing homeowners in certain Neighborhoods in Bloom communities, so these homeowners can rehabilitate their properties in accordance with city building codes.
- Housing Repair and Grant Program: Provides up to $10,000 to those who already own their homes and $5,000 to renters to repair conditions that violate city building codes. Available in certain Neighborhood in Bloom communities, call for more information.
