Rehabilitation Tax Abatement

City Real Estate Tax Abatement Program for Rehabilitated Properties: The city offers partial exemption from real estate taxes for qualifying rehabilitated or replaced structures. For properties that qualify, the initial increase in real estate taxes caused by rehabilitation or replacement will be excused for total of seven years. Property owners must apply to the program. “Lead Safe Richmond” is a Lead Poisoning Prevention Program funded by Housing & Urban Development, Richmond Community Development Block Grant, and the Center’s for Disease Control. Lead Poisoning is a preventable disease caused by eating, drinking or breathing substances that contain lead. Lead is in the air, soil, water and food. Learn More
